In our daily activities, it is usual that we use knives. For chefs, it is like their lives are depending on a good knife. For hunters also, knives are important to survive in the woods. It is undeniable that knives are really essential in our everyday life. Some activities are easier when used with knives.

Knives are considered one of the oldest tools that are used by men. Even during Stone Age, the early settlers invented this tool because of its need. They use sharp stone, which become the basis for these days knives design, to cut, hunt for food, and ax woods. Even we are in modern times today, the original purpose of the knives still remains.

There are two sections for knives. One is the working knives which are knives that are used in our everyday tasks. The other one is the combat knives which are obviously used for fights like for example the swords. Different kinds of knives serve for different uses. Listed are some kind of knife and its uses.

* Hunting knife - it is a fixed blade that is usually used to get the skin of the animal out. Its blade is either with a normal one, a mild curve, or a curved and clipped blade. There are also different lengths of hunting knives.
* Utility knife - it is used in construction work or carpentry. It usually includes a compartment which makes room for spare blades.
* Bread knife - it is a special kind of knife with a serrated and longer blade used only for cutting different kinds of bread. It is usually straight with a blunt end. The teeth of the blade allow the bread to be cut vertically to prevent it from being squashed. Than other knives, the bread knife leaves fewer crumbs.
* Scalpel - it is a medical knife that is used for surgery. It is one of the sharpest kinds that are available today. It found usually in surgery rooms or in a more advanced first aid kits.
* Machete - when you love going to the woods, you might probably consider bringing a machete. It is a long broad blade that is used to cut through thick brushwood or bush. It deals larger damage than other knives.

Hence, it is important to know the types and uses of each knife. Also ensure that you are using the right knife for a particular job to have safer, easier, and desirable outcome. Look for quality knives that are available in the market so that your knife can serve you well.
