When It Comes To Purchasing A Golf Ball

By Alison Heath

Did you know that close to 5000 designs have been developed, approved and patented since the 1990s ? Is it really any wonder that it is considered as one of the most artfully designed items in the field of sports?

Choosing a suitable golf ball would be a golf player's nightmare due to the fact that there are so many options to choose from.

The designers have also tried to develop different designs of balls which can suit each player because of the municipality of player types so that maximum fun can be derived from the game, as well as increase the possibility of a par.

Structure of a golf ball

Two-piece balls, also called 'distance balls' by the players are made up of material that is hard and immune to cuts. Their distance is what they are known for. Aside from being tight, the inner of these balls can be made of different materials. The distance a ball can travel is decided by how hard the inner is. As a matter of fact, the ability to spin is what these balls lack and because of its limited ability to spin, it is therefore difficult to manage these two-piece balls.

For better feel and ability to spin, three-piece golf balls are ideal. They are made only for this purpose. A tight inside is covered by the outer softer coat or Balata. You can also find a fabric layer that occupies the space between the outer cover and the core. The blow of the club on the ball is lessened or softened because of this. Though this gives the ball a better feel and spin, the areas of compromise are longevity and the distance.

If an all-purpose ball is what you want, then how about going for multi-layered balls? These balls contains many layers of thin materials and a vastly improved inner core and it also consist of lasting, soft covers. In all respects, the ball is good thanks to this.

When choosing the right ball for you.

There are novices and players that have high handicap and are most likely to hit the ball wrongly so they should go for two-piece golf balls which has a Surlyn coat because these balls last longer, cheap and come with the 'distance' advantages.

A good choice for mid handicap players are golf balls with three-piece structure with Elastomer or Balata outer cover. These balls are capable of ' swing speeds' and do not make any compromise on the distance aspect.

What experienced golf players should choose are multi-layered balls. These players can get the advantage of distance, feel, as well as good spins since these players are low handicap and also have good swing speeds.

Similar to other equipment required to play golf, it would require a lot of trial and error until you hit the right choice when you are trying to get the right ball for you. But do not refrain from playing this enjoyable game - you will definitely get to the most perfect choice of ball in no time.
