How to Get More Website Traffic

By Luidgi Dimantello

Every online marketer must put in the time and effort to send high quality traffic to their sites. It's quite obvious that you need to do this, traffic needs to be worked on to appear. It's absolutely necessary to build a reason into your site for people to want to spend more than 30 seconds there. Creating traffic to your site isn't rocket science, but it's something you need to learn how to do... plus it takes work and time. Traffic generation is a task that really means lead generation, in a way, for your site - something you should do every day. If your site and content are worthy enough, in time people may start talking about it, and you'll get some word of mouth advertising for your site. Keep reading and you'll learn some basic methods to begin driving some traffic to your sites.

Leaving comments on blogs is a proven method to attract more visitors to your site. This can, however, be tricky. You have to make a meaningful comment, not just "great blog" or something like that. Leaving a bunch of "great blog!" comments will get you labeled a spammer.

If you want to do this right, you have to actually look over the blog and make a comment that contributes to the discussion. You have to show the blog owner that you are really reading his blog and not just there to leave a link. You can also get more traffic this way, as people who read your comment may then click on your link to see your site. If the blog owner appreciates what you've written, he may even grant you a spot on his blogroll!

Take advantage of Meta tags in your site's HTML code. If you build blogs, you can use Meta tags in your posts, or you can also use an SEO plugin that will make it much easier to manage. Title and description meta tags will allow the search engines to properly identify what your site is about and give you more accurate listings.

Do some research and locate some of the better newsletters within your market. Contact them and go slowly, but what you eventually want to do is contribute some content, or articles, to their newsletter. You'll never ask for payment, your reward will be the ability to identify who you are and your site's name. You'll have greater success if your content is presented well and provides good value to their readers. And if it all goes well, you could end up with a good writing gig.

You might have gotten into this arena with the hope that you wouldn't have to do any work at all. Online marketing is like any other business, you have to put some work into it. So the right techniques and some solid effort will produce traffic to your sites and blogs. Take action, learn, and maybe some creativity will bring you the results you want.
